Title: How to Appear Offline in Arc Raiders on PlayStation 5
If you are diving into the intense world of Arc Raiders on your PlayStation 5 but just want to play at your own pace without getting bombarded with squad invites, you might find yourself looking for an "Appear Offline" option. Whether you are trying to test out new loadouts or simply want some solo downtime, playing under the radar is a pretty common need.
Unfortunately, Arc Raiders does not have a native, built-in "Appear
Offline" toggle inside its own social menus. If you open up the game settings, you won't find a direct switch to go invisible. Instead, you have to rely on your PS5 console¡¯s system settings to hide your online status.
How to Change Your PS5 Status
To mask your presence, you need to adjust your PlayStation Network settings directly through the console interface. You can do this at any point while your console is turned on:
Press the PlayStation button on your controller to pull up the Quick Menu at the bottom of your screen.
Navigate all the way to the right and select your Profile icon.
Select Online Status from the drop-down menu.
Choose Appear Offline.
There is also an alternative way to do this right when you turn on your console, which is perfect if you want to avoid letting anyone know you just hopped online. When you are on the initial PS5 profile selection screen, hover over your user profile and press the Options button on your controller. A small menu will pop up allowing you to select Appear Offline before you even log in. This prevents your PSN friends from getting that automatic "friend is online" notification.
Critical Cross-Play Limitations
While the steps above work perfectly for hiding your activity from your regular PlayStation Network friends, playing Arc Raiders brings a major catch that you need to be aware of.
Because the game uses an independent social layer to manage cross-play, your PS5 system settings won't completely cover your tracks if you have added people via their Embark ID.
Here is why you might still get spotted:
Embark ID Visibility: If you have linked up with friends using their specific Embark IDs, your in-game character may still show up as active and online to players who are logging in from PC (Steam) or Xbox.
Independent Game Servers: The game¡¯s social features communicate directly with its own servers rather than relying solely on the PlayStation Network. Because of this, platform-level "invisible" toggles cannot always consistently mask your activity from friends playing on different systems.
If you are trying to hide from someone on the exact same platform, the PS5 trick works like a charm. But if your friends list is packed with cross-play buddies from other platforms, just keep in mind that they might still see your Embark ID active in their in-game rosters.
