Even after the February 9 patch dropped and everyone started talking about Charged legendary mods and the shiny new Gleaming Depths raid, my stash box still tells the same story: wood disappears fast. If you build camps a lot, you already know the routine. You put up something clever, hit the budget cap, scrap half of it, then realise you're short on basic materials again. I've tested my old routes lately while hunting for Fallout 76 items cheap options on the side, and the reliable wood spots are still doing the job without any weird spawn issues.
Fast Forest LoopIf you want the quickest, least annoying run, I'd still point you to Sylvie & Sons Logging Camp in the Forest, east of Vault 76. It's the kind of place you can hit while your coffee's still hot. Walk in, sweep the fallen logs in a simple circle, then scoop up the neat little piles by the tents. No drama, rarely any serious enemies, and it's easy to reset if you server hop. On a normal pass I'm sitting around 180 to 220 wood scraps, and it's consistent enough that you can plan your whole build session around a couple of runs there.
Second Stops That Actually Pay OffWhen Sylvie's picked over or I'm already roaming, Gilman Lumber Mill is my next stop. It's not quite as tight and clean as Sylvie's, but you'll grab plenty of wood while also snagging extra junk that's handy for repairs and crafting. Helvetia's little wood shed is another good shout when you're in a hurry; it's basically a grab, scrap, and leave situation, and the time-to-wood ratio feels great even if the total isn't massive. And if you want a calmer vibe, Prickett's Fort is worth swinging by. It's scenic, it's often left alone, and you can scoop wood without bumping into three other players doing the exact same loop.
Workshops And The Lazy WayFor longer sessions, I still like taking a workshop and letting extractors do the boring part. Dolly Sods Campground is a favourite because you can place multiple wood extractors and just let them tick while you run events or clear dailies. Lock them, toss down a couple of basic generators, and check in now and then. It adds up in the background in a way that manual farming never quite matches. Also, don't sleep on Woodchucker. People forget it, then wonder why they're always short. Put it on and you'll feel the difference pretty fast.
Keeping It Simple When You're BuildingI get why some players don't want to spend their night circling log piles. Sometimes you just want to throw up a new camp and get on with it, especially when a new bundle hits and you're itching to redecorate. If that's you, using a service like u4gm to pick up currency or items can save time, and it's nice having that option when your schedule's tight. Me, I still enjoy the quiet loops in the Forest, grabbing wood while a radstag wanders past and the radio hums in the background.
