The upcoming Frozen Trail update is bringing a significant progression adjustment to ARC Raiders. On October 8, Embark Studios plans to retire the existing Raider Deck system and introduce Reward Passes with Free and Premium progression tracks. The change follows developer feedback about how easily dedicated players could use accumulated Cred to complete new decks immediately. The new system instead encourages players to progress through Feats and gradually unlock rewards. For players who follow ARC Raiders Coins and Raider Tokens closely, the Reward Pass will create a clearer seasonal progression path while preserving access to a substantial free track.

The Problem With Saved Cred

According to Embark, the main issue with Raider Decks was not a lack of rewards but how quickly some players could complete them. Dedicated players could save Cred from one season and then use that accumulated currency to progress rapidly when another deck appeared. This meant the rewards could feel less significant because there was little time spent working toward them. It also reduced the motivation to continue completing Feats after the deck had been cleared. By moving to a level-based Reward Pass, Embark is attempting to make each reward feel connected to ongoing activity rather than something players can immediately unlock through previously saved resources.

Free Players Still Receive Core Rewards

The Frozen Trail Reward Pass will have 60 levels, and the Free track will be available to everyone who owns the base game. This path includes the new base outfits as well as additional cosmetics, weapons, gadgets, and other items. Players can also earn up to 200 Raider Tokens through the free progression route. The inclusion of functional equipment is particularly notable because it means the free side is not limited to purely visual rewards. Players who do not purchase Premium will still have reasons to progress through the pass and complete the Feats associated with its levels.

Premium Focuses on Customization

The Premium track adds extra rewards for players who choose to purchase the upgrade. These include additional outfit customization options, such as premium toggles, modifications, and colorways. Premium players can also receive exclusive legendary weapon stencils, hairstyles, and up to 1,150 Raider Tokens. The pass costs 1,150 Raider Tokens, creating a progression model in which completing the entire track can return the currency required to obtain it. This makes full completion especially relevant for players who intend to remain active across multiple Reward Passes, although future pricing and expiration details may affect how that system develops.

No Premium Gameplay Advantage

Embark has specifically stated that the Premium path will not provide a gameplay advantage. Weapons and gadgets that affect gameplay remain part of the Free Pass, while Premium rewards are centered on appearance, customization, and currency. This separates the optional paid progression from functional equipment and allows players to decide whether they want additional cosmetic content without making the upgrade necessary for core progression. The distinction should also make the new structure easier to understand. Free rewards provide gameplay and cosmetic content, while Premium expands customization and adds more vanity-focused options.

A Different Way to Progress

The move from Raider Decks to Reward Passes represents a change in how ARC Raiders handles seasonal rewards. Instead of letting stored Cred accelerate an entire deck immediately, the new model encourages players to complete Feats and move through 60 levels over time.
